Case Strengthened

The victim was awakened by an intruder in her bedroom in the middle of the night.  She was violently attacked and raped.  She could not provide a meaningful description of her attacker.

Evidence was collected and sent to forensics for evaluation.  Items were evaluated to identify the best suited forensic method. One of the items was a piece of fabric.  Although no visible stains were apparent, there was reason to believe that the suspect had touched it, so the M-Vac™ was used to collect from it.  

The resulting filter was sent to the crime lab.  It yielded a major and minor DNA profile.  The major matched the victim and the minor matched the suspect.  The minor profile matched other DNA evidence available and significantly strengthened the case.  The suspect was arrested and is in custody.
