In July of 2021, Rolling Stone magazine featured an article about the founding of the non-profit organization Season of Justice. The article points out how, in spite of many new advances in DNA technology (the M-Vac™ is their first example!), there is still a major problem in solving cases: budget limitations. Ashley Flowers, podcast host and owner of audiochuck, a media company, recognized this limitation and wanted to help solve it. So she started Season of Justice using funding from audiochuck, including funds donated by her podcast fans. The non-profit accepts applications for grants for DNA testing or for awareness campaigns.
Besides being mentioned in the article, one of M-Vac™'s more recent Casework stories, A Cigarette Butt and a Housecoat, is about a 1970s cold case that was solved with the help of Season of Justice funding.
